Defensive Pistol 1 (New Course!):

Defensive Pistol I will provide students with the knowledge and training to safely and effectively utilize a semi-automatic pistol from a concealed or outside the waistband holster. This course focuses on the legal threshold you must meet to use deadly force, drawing from a concealed holster, clearing malfunctions, shooting from cover vs concealment, controlled and tactical movement, and various shooting positions required for defense.

Equipment and supplies required: Students will need their own pistol, holster, two magazines, and a minimum of 50 rounds of ammunition (100 preferred), eye and hearing protection. Closed toe shoes and appropriate clothing for moderate activity are recommended.

Note: Hearing, eye protection and ammo are available for purchase.

Instructor has military and law enforcement experience including SWAT.

Class size is limited to 5 students and depending on the number of students the course will last from 4 to 5 ½ hours.

DEZ Classes

Introduction to AR-15 Rifle (New Course!):

Introduction to AR-15 Rifle course will provide students with the basic skills, training and knowledge to safely and effectively utilize an AR15/M4 semi-automatic rifle. The course will review the rules and responsibilities concerning the use of the firearm. The training will instill basic firearms handling skills, range safety, marksmanship fundamentals, diagnosing and clearing malfunctions, and the breakdown and cleaning of the rifle. This course consists of lecture, instructor demonstration, dry and live fire drills.

Equipment and supplies required: Students will need their AR15/M4, two magazines, eye and ear protection, and 100 rounds of ammunition. The rifle should be sighted in (iron sights and/or optic) before taking this class. If you need assistance with this contact the store for an appointment. Closed toe shoes and appropriate clothing for moderate activity are recommended.

Classes are held weekly at DEZ including Wisconsin concealed carry and more. Our classes are kept at a smaller size to enhance learning and enable students to ask questions during instruction. Private lessons are also available by appointment. Our classes are taught by a certified NRA instructor with an extensive background in law enforcement. With our indoor range on site, students have access to hands-on learning on how to safely and properly use a firearm any time of the year.

Private Lessons:

Private lessons at DEZ are perfect for those who want to learn in a more comfortable setting. Those taking a private lesson are encouraged to work with our instructor to cover the topics and/or techniques they wish to learn. Our standard private lessons cover a maximum of two individuals, and the length of the lesson is customizable (2 hours minimum is recommended). Wisconsin Concealed Carry (32 Reciprocating States):

This comprehensive course focuses on basic firearm safety and one-on-one safe gun handling skills exercises. We will discuss the attitude, training and mindset necessary to responsibly own and carry a concealed weapon. Personal defense topics including the legal use of deadly force, modern concealed carry techniques, car jacking’s, home invasions as well as safety in your home and proper storage will be discussed. Course includes Certificate of Training for submission with permit application. There is a $40 application fee at time of application submittal.

Instructors: Instructor has NRA Firearms Instructor Certification.

Introduction to Pistol Shooting:

DEZ’s Introduction to Pistol Shooting class is taught by our highly qualified NRA instructor who has years of training and is proficient in the instruction and handling of handguns. The three hour course allows for close, personal hands-on attention in a relaxed classroom environment. Low student to instructor ratio is designed around the fundamental skills behind shooting handguns both safely and accurately.

3+ hour class:  One +  hour class time and two hours live-fire practice on the range
Equipment Needed: Handgun, Ammunition, Eye and Ear Protection

Bring your own handgun or rent one of ours for $20.00 plus ammo. If you are bringing your own pistol, please bring the owner’s manual and have cased pistol.
Ammunition minimum of 50 rounds.
Ear and eye protection (Prescription glasses are okay).
